Established in 2023 and owned by Thukjey Tondup, a local farmer, the homestay provides two comfortable guest rooms, each approximately 14 × 14 sq. ft., along with a dining area, well-maintained bathroom facilities, hot and cold water, free parking, and regular electricity. Guests can enjoy fresh vegetarian home-cooked meals and traditional Ladakhi cuisine while experiencing the rhythms of rural life. As an active farmer with agricultural land, a kitchen garden, and livestock, Thukjey Tondup is happy to introduce guests to farming, local food production, and everyday village activities. The family also practices traditional needle felting, offering visitors an insight into the region’s local craftsmanship.

Thukjey Tondup, the owner of Latho Homestay in Skampuk Village, Nubra, is a farmer who has opened his family home to travelers seeking a peaceful and authentic experience of Ladakhi village life. Established in 2023, Latho Homestay reflects the family’s strong connection with agriculture, local traditions, and the welcoming spirit of the community. With pension income from the Army supporting the household, Thukjey Tondup has developed the homestay as an additional livelihood opportunity. His experience as a farmer gives guests an opportunity to understand the traditional lifestyle of the region, including agriculture, kitchen gardening, livestock, and the seasonal rhythms of village life
